Preheat oven to 350° F..
Mix dry crumb ingredients together. Add the shortening and rub it in until no large pieces remain.
Mix molasses, corn syrup and boiling water. Let cool.
Add the baking soda and the egg. Mix well.
Reserve 2 tablespoons of the liquid for the top and pour the rest into the bottom of a 9 inch unbaked pie shell. Evenly distribute the crumbs on top of the liquid and pour the reserved liquid over the top.
Bake for about 1 hour until the pie is set.
